The Difference Between Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

• Often called "liquidation bankruptcy," Chapter 7 Bankruptcy discharges all of your unsecured debt such as credit card bills and medical debt. Here's the catch: if you make enough money to pay back at least some of your debts, you may not qualify for Chapter 7.   
• Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is often known as the "wage earner's bankruptcy." When you do not qualify for Chapter 7, Chapter 13 can let you reduce your debt through negotiation and develop a 5-year repayment plan. You will not have to pay additional fees or interest during your plan, and at the end, remaining debts will be discharged.
